FOSTER BOTANICAL GARDEN

On March 11, 2018 our foundation completed our one year surveying study for invasive insect pest species for the City and County of Honolulu at Foster Botanical Garden. Our study led to one invasive species new state record and 7 species new to the islands but also collected outside of the garden. These species are currently being verified with specialist. We used eight types of lure traps, pitfall traps, and yellow sticky traps. We asked and have been granted permission by the City to continue our study for 2 more months until, May 31, 2018 for limited surveying to find the male of one of the beetle species.

On March 31, 2018, Joshlyn D. Sand the Director of Foster Botanical Garden shared information about our Foundation’s work at Foster Botanical Garden in her slide presentation to the Friends of Honolulu Botanical Garden during their Annual meeting.
